Jewellery By J9 Layby

Making your special piece a little easier to pay for.

Layby is available on Jewellery by J9 purchases of $400 or more. Your jewellery is reserved for you while you make regular payments, and you receive your piece once it has been paid for in full.

How it works

A deposit is required to begin your layby. The deposit amount will be discussed with you when your layby is arranged.
The remaining balance can be paid in agreed instalments over the agreed payment period.
There is no interest or additional charge for paying by layby.
Your jewellery remains safely with Jewellery by J9 until the full purchase price has been paid.
The total price of your jewellery is fixed at the price agreed when the layby is started.
You will receive a written layby agreement confirming the item, total price, payments and payment schedule.

Changing or cancelling your layby

You can cancel your layby at any time before the final payment. If you cancel, payments made will be refunded, less any reasonable cancellation fee stated in your layby agreement.

If you're having difficulty keeping up with payments, please get in touch. We can discuss whether a change to the payment schedule is possible.

Once it's paid

Once your layby has been paid in full, your jewellery will be ready delivery.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping

All jewellery is lovingly packaged and sent from Dunedin, New Zealand using a tracked courier service with signature required.
Each order is carefully wrapped — ready for gifting or safekeeping — and I do my best to use eco-friendly materials wherever possible.

I currently ship within New Zealand only.
Once your order has been sent, you’ll receive an email with tracking details so you can follow its journey.
Delivery usually takes 3–7 working days after dispatch (rural areas may take a little longer).
A signature is required on delivery for your peace of mind.

If your parcel hasn’t arrived within the expected timeframe, please contact me at j9jewel@gmail.com and I’ll help follow up with the courier.
For custom or made-to-order pieces, please allow extra time for crafting before dispatch — I’ll confirm estimated timeframes with you directly.

Responsibility

Once your parcel is handed over to the courier, it’s in their care — but I’ll always do what I can to assist if there are any issues or concerns.

Returns & Exchanges

I want you to be completely happy with your jewellery.
If you’re not satisfied with a non-custom piece, please get in touch within 7 days of receiving it.

Items must be returned in the same condition they were sent — unworn and in original packaging.
Return shipping is at the buyer’s expense, and I recommend using a tracked courier for safety.
Once received and inspected, I’ll arrange an exchange or refund (excluding shipping costs).

Because each custom-made piece is unique, I can’t offer refunds or exchanges once production has started — but if there’s ever an issue or adjustment needed, please reach out and I’ll do my best to help.

Thank you for visiting my website and supporting handmade New Zealand craftsmanship. Every piece I create is designed and made with care in Dunedin, NZ. Please take a moment to read the following Terms & Conditions — they help make sure everything runs smoothly for both of us.

General Information

This website and all items sold under the name Jewellery by J9 – J L Mowat Jewellery are owned and operated by Janine Mowat, Dunedin, New Zealand.
By purchasing from this site or commissioning a custom piece, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

I may update these Terms occasionally — the latest version will always be available on the website.

Custom Orders & Handmade Process

All pieces are handcrafted, and many are made to order or individually customised.
Once you’ve approved a custom design and payment (or deposit) has been received, work will begin on your piece. Because each custom order is unique, these cannot usually be cancelled or refunded once production has started — but I’ll always do my best to help if something changes.

Due to the handmade nature of my work, small variations in texture, finish, or stone details may occur — these are part of what makes each piece special and one-of-a-kind.

Pricing & Payments

All prices are listed in New Zealand Dollars (NZD).
Payment methods accepted include PayPal, bank transfer, or credit card.
Prices may change without notice, but confirmed orders will not be affected.

If a pricing or listing error occurs, I’ll let you know as soon as possible before processing your order.

Shipping & Delivery

I currently ship within New Zealand only using a tracked courier service with signature required.
You’ll receive tracking details once your order has been sent.

I take care to package each item safely and beautifully, but I can’t be responsible for delivery delays once a parcel is with the courier. If there’s ever an issue, please get in touch and I’ll do what I can to assist.

Returns & Exchanges

I want you to love your jewellery.
If you’re not completely happy with a non-custom item, please contact me within 7 days of receiving it. Items may be returned or exchanged provided they are in the same condition they were sent — unworn and in original packaging.
Return shipping is at the buyer’s expense, and I recommend using tracked courier.

Custom-made pieces are generally non-refundable, unless there’s a genuine fault with the item.

If a repair or adjustment is needed, please get in touch — I’m always happy to discuss options to ensure your piece is perfect.

Product Descriptions

I do my best to ensure all descriptions, photos, and details are accurate.
As each piece is handcrafted, slight variations may occur — these make your jewellery uniquely yours.

Intellectual Property

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by New Zealand law, I am not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of this site or my products.
